THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE UPCOMING PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

Just how much power does the President of the United States have?

The personal agenda of the President will powerfully affect everyone in the USA. Although many laws, especially those affecting the budget of the United States are determined by the House and the Senate, the President has a strong voice in determining which laws will be presented for a vote.

The President can also enact many policies by way of an executive order. These orders can have wide-spread results. They can determine whether the laws, that are on the books, are enforced or ignored. Regulations can be ratified through different agencies to initiate new policies in immigration, the economy, and energy. These changes, which have enormous consequences, can be enacted without the approval of the congress. The President can also strengthen or weaken the relations between our allies and our enemies. Therefore, the checks and balances of the constitution can be slightly out of kilter when a President has a personal agenda to make great changes, especially if the President pushes the boundaries of the Constitution.

It is important to understand where the President stands on as many issues as possible. Being knowledgeable about the important matters will enable you to cast your vote for the candidate who most likely will enact policies that you favor.
