HOW DOES SINGLE ISSUE VOTING AFFECT DECISION MAKING
In a free country, like the United States, one has the option to place their vote based on one issue. Given that the issue impacts their life in a dramatic way, it is one way to spend their capital, capital being one precious vote.
Considering that an individual only has one vote, wouldn’t it be a good idea to help elect someone who will cover as many personal preferences as possible? Therefore, it behooves one to understand most of the platforms that a candidate stands for. Obviously, one will probably not have an alignment with each considered candidate on every issue. Wouldn’t your vote speak your principals more effectively if you considered all the issues that affect you and your loved ones.
Choosing a candidate should not be influenced by the media. Sometimes the loudest noise is just noise. Figuring out what is best for you and those you care about is not necessarily easy to do. Economics can be a complicated subject. However, you do not have to have a PHD in economics when you go to the supermarket and shop for food. You will remember what you paid the last time and you will probably remember what you paid a year ago. The same is true when you fill up your tank each time.
Perhaps you do not have a fixed income. Perhaps you do not worry about having enough money when you pay for rent, food, clothing or other essentials and you look outside your world and are concerned about the status of the global world. Unless you are a munitions manufacture, having half of the world fighting with the other half is not only unsettling, possibly, it can affect you personally. Voting for a candidate, who you believe can keep the balance of power and deter countries from igniting around the world is not short-sighted.
When you place your vote for the President of the United States, be sure that you can reasonably predict how that candidate will act or react in most situations. Pay attention to how that candidate has handled prior demanding situations. When you feel reasonably certain that you have a comprehensive understanding of that candidates’ character, you will be able to cast your vote with confidence.
